New South Wales or NSW is an Australian state situated on the east coast of the state. The bordering states include South Australia in the west, Queensland in the north, and Victoria in the south.
The state is distinguished by its national parks and coastal regions, which include long surfing beaches. To the east of the state lies the Coral and Tasman Seas.
Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales, is the most populous city of Australia. As of June 2020, the state had over 8.1 million people, making NSW the most populous state on the continent.
The Aboriginal tribes, who were the original inhabitants of New South Wales, set their feet on Australia some 40,000 to 60,000 years ago. The original inhabitants of the Illawarra area in South Sydney were known as the Wodi Wodi people. Before the European settlement, the state had around 250,000 Aboriginal people.
New South Wales is home to several primary and secondary schools, starting from kindergarten to 12th standard. There are both government and non-government schools for both primary and secondary education.
While the former includes comprehensive and selective schools, the non-government schools have Catholic schools, non-denominational independent schools, and other denominational schools.
Besides, Sydney has the first university of Australia, the University of Sydney, founded in 1850. There are a total of eleven primarily operating universities in NSW.
Coming to the transportation system in NSW, there are roadways and railways from Brisbane to Perth or Melbourne that pass through New South Wales. Besides, there are several airways (Kingsford Smith Airport) and ferries (Transdev Sydney Ferries).
